A New Me

Welcome to my first blog. I’m happy you are here and hope you enjoy the read.

I love to travel, but I haven’t been on a vacation since the pandemic. That said, I have been on a journey. It started two days before the world shut down when I had a total knee replacement. It was major surgery, and I faced a lot of uncertainty with my recovery. Fortunately, I had undergone this procedure before, so I knew what to expect. What I didn’t expect was becoming my own physical therapist. Little did I know this was the beginning, not just with this new body part, but for my future.

My new knees (I named them Cheech and Chong because they are my new joints), are helping me walk, sometimes run, on this path pain-free. Thank Heavens for modern medicine!

A year and a half ago, when the world was beginning to open up again, the Universe started sending me messages that it was time to take a different path, to venture out to pursue a dream. When the two body parts on the sides of my head decided to finally listen, I made the scary decision to retire from a thirty-five-year career. Fear had been holding me back, but when decisions were being made that weren’t the best for me, it made it easy to drum up the courage and confidence, grab my survival kit and go into unchartered territory.

And here I am, doing something I never thought I would do. I am writing a book on the journey I have been on for thirty-one-derful years. My book is about the time the Universe entrusted a baby with special needs in my care. I don’t know what in the world IT was thinking, but boy am I grateful because I needed him.

I have learned so much in the last year and a half. Writing a book is hard! However, I have two amazing mentors who are helping me through it. I have many new friends. I’m working on strengthening old relationships and I’m becoming a new me….I LOVE it!!

Sooo, as much as I’d like to be back at Disney, or on a beach in Hawaii, or snorkeling in the Caribbean, my journey at the moment is behind my desk as my fingers, my number one appendages at this time, create a PEACE of art; my masterpiece. At least it is for me.

I can’t wait until I get to collect some souvenirs. I plan to own the mug, the mousepad AND the t-shirt.

I hope you hop on my bus and join this journey with me. We are heading toward an awesome destination. Beep Beep…All aboard

Wendy
