In honor of my son and others who also have that extra chromosome, I invite you to celebrate March 21st with us. Why this day? Because the date is 3-21. The 21st day of March was selected to signify the uniqueness of the triplication of the 21st chromosome which causes Down syndrome. The purpose is to educate the world on what Down syndrome is and how individuals with Down syndrome need to be valued in their communities.

So how do we celebrate? Well, one way is to wear crazy socks, which is something Matt looks forward to every year. It’s a fun way to call attention to our feet and when people ask, “What is with your crazy socks” the reply is simple, “I know this cool kid named Matt. He has Down syndrome and you know what he has taught me?...”
